Abstract

Introduction
The management of post-burn contractures and keloid formation in pediatric populations poses significant challenges. This case report presents the comprehensive management of a recurrent post-burn contracture involving the left elbow.

Case Details
An 11-year-old female presented with a recurrent post-burn left elbow flexion contracture that had persisted for eight years. She underwent contracture release surgery followed by reconstruction with an abdominal flap. In addition, intermittent nocturnal splinting and physiotherapy sessions were incorporated into her treatment plan.

Outcome
Following these interventions, the elbow’s range of motion improved by approximately 80 degrees.

Conclusion
A multidisciplinary approach that combines surgical and rehabilitative therapies is essential in the management of post-burn contractures in pediatric patients. This case highlights the importance of integrating surgery, physiotherapy, and long-term splinting for optimal functional outcomes.
